How big is the hoe? Sherman made backhoes lots of folks used on N's, but they weren't too large. If it is a decent three point hoe at a good price you can always upgrade the tractor. If you go over to the N board you might get hold of somebody who owns one of the Sherman hoes. Your external PTO pump probably is fine, but the hoe may simply be too heavy for a 9N to lift. (Unless you already have a bucket to counterbalance it on the other end.)
