R Wyler, I've gotten a bit familiar with that. Doubt they'll have a standard container for a combine. You'll probably end up looking at Ro Ro service (roll on, roll off -- a sea going parking lot). You're going to find quotes around $2,000 for about 1000 cu. ft. from Rotterdam, Southampton, Hamburg/Bremerhaven to NY/NJ or Baltimore. You're a bit over 1000 cu. ft. and headroom might be a problem - may need to disassemble the cab. Figure a month to a 1.5 months for port to port transit time. The other thing you're almost sure to encounter is a customs bureaucrat who's never seen anything like a combine before and doesn't know how to classify it, and if there's an emissions exemption for AG machinery, plus safety requirements, air bags, and so on. Figure some increased brokerage fees for the education process on top of 6% or so duty. Here's hoping you find some sharp people in the process - as the "by the book" customs and shipping types will cause you to end up tearing your hair out. Steve
