You hit a nerve with this one. My '98 Silverado and '98 Venture both had leaking intake gaskets. The Venture was down for a week, nationally sold out. It has to do with the number of heat/cool cycles I am told. The truck cost $400 and the van $750, ugly, ugly job. The Silverado has CSK(cold start knock) that started at 17000 miles and is much worse at 53000 miles. Chevy offical positon is CSK is normal. I did ask for a abnormal "quiet" engine. But wait it get better, The Silverado transmission routes all its reverse power through a splined hub of incredible small proportions. It cost $1850 for a transmission rebuild last week. Jasper wants $1800 (no r+r labor) for a remanufacture. I rest in comfort knowing there is an improved part that is much stronger in it know. The front brake rotors had the pox at 22ooo miles, a bad lot of composite rotors was made last qtr of '97. Ask me how I know. So, my opinion is Chevy does its experimenting on the units it sells, and you takes your chances. I should have kept the engine outta my '90, but, then again I got this improved model. Do a yahoo seach on chevy engine knock. Ever wonder why you never see anything in print (car mags, pop mech, newspaper etc)? Look at the ads. I posed my ?? to the auto editer at Pop Mech.

I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
