I'm a red man myself, probably because that is what I grew up with, and from what little I drove a green one, I never liked the hand clutch. The A is as mentioned before, hands down more power. John Deere was selling hot there for a number of years over anything else. Present day I believe John Deere value has dropped a little and everything else has gradually played catch up. Not as much of value difference as there once was between red and green. Since the H was somewhat runable, and the A not running, sounds like a pretty even swap to me. If anybody got the advantage I would have to say you probably did. You will have a bigger tractor when you get done fixing it up. For that reason alone the fixed up A would be worth more than the fixed up H. I just hope you don't end up spending way more money on the A than you would of on the H. You never know what you will end up spending when you go into a tractor project. That is the gamble part of it.
