I'm not a fan of leaving oil in a engine for a long time, topping up and just changing the filter. Seen first had what can happen. Maybe in ideal conditions, warm climate and nonstop highway driving. But then any oil can have extended changes in these condtions. Most people don't drive like that its stop and go traffic. Then throw in cold climates where it gets down to -40 and its a whole different ball game. Having worked in the automotive field as a tech for years I've seen first hand kind of oil causes engine problems DIRTY OIL and NO OIL. You wouldn't believe how some take care of thier stuff. Some wait till the oil light flashes then they check the oil! Synthetics have thier place for sure I like them for cold weather starts but I still change it normally.
