First generation Mobile 1- no so good. Entire fleet of City of Troy, MI Dodge 440 cu in police cars had severe engine ware in 1975 within 6 months. Fleet replaced. My new 1976 V8 powered, tiny GM Monza had a ruined engine at 10K miles. That V8 was not hardly working pulling a 2700lb car. 200 miles a quart of oil after 8000 miles of Mobile 1 (two oil changes).

Second generation Mobile 1- late 1970s, I believe. Ok, I guess. Oil did not thin out like 1st generation, shear modifier zinc added.

Third generation Mobile 1- I believe year 2001. Does not perform as well with bearing ware tests as second generation. Havoline Formula 3 non-synthetic easily outperforms Mobile 1 in the test.

Not sure of Mobile 1 for myself. The damaged GM V8 & a tired engine at 120,000 miles in a new 1996 Ford I bought causes me to look elsewhere. I know GM prefers Mobile 1 in the new Corvette. I'll pass after the 'wallet' damage from Mobile 1!
