Dan, If you suspect something, you can ask your local law enforcement agency to run a "NCIC inquiry for stolen" with the serial number and model. This wont guarantee that it is not stolen, it only shows a hit if the owner reported it stolen and was able to supply the serial number to police. NCIC is a nationwide database used by all USA law enforcement agencies. Stolen items entered will remain in the database indefinately or until a law enforcement agency removes the entry as recovered. Also Texas has no titles for tractors either. I dont know of any states that do. Most tractor owners keep a bill of sale or a transfer of ownership signed by both buyer and seller as proof of ownership. Kinda like buying a horse!
