Never heard of running gas engine with wood smoke. That would be interesting to learn more about. I never heard of it being done. My dad was stationed in Germany in the mid 50's and he remembered some of the Germans operating what he thought was steam powered vehicles and tractors and such. My dad had been around steam engines and steam locomotives over here in the states, so I'm pretty sure what he said he saw was actually steam powered. He couldn't believe they was still operating small steam powered stuff. Maybe the being short of fuel during WWII lenghthened the steam powered age over there as well as alternative fuels.
