those IH models are about what i had in mind for IH. would consider massey red too ;) fords seem to be a lighter tractor for the hp, as we have a 5000 utility (sits very low with 30in rears) already. and this power/weight ratio is what we're after in order to reduce compaction damage and risk of getting stuck (all that rain last summer probably hasn't soaked in yet). i would think an 856 etc would be just as harsh on the soil as the 1256 since they're 98% the same tractor. will have to see what the budget will allow. the 656 should be overhauled too... want a few more model suggestions from other makes such as massey (dad talking about them before as a possibility). thanks for the numbers to keep in mind :) -karl
