4850s are excellent tractors. When you come right down to it, the Waterloo factory hasn't turned out anything but good tractors - ever. That 4850 is like the 4840 in that they were only available as powershift tractors. The 50 series brought about the introduction of the 15-speed powershift, which moved the clutch pack from the front of the trans onto the flywheel, which makes them easier to service. The cab is also a bit nicer, and there are other little differences here and there, such as the PTO clutch arrangement, but a 4850 is every bit as solid as a 4840, and maybe more so. I don't know what the used tractor market is like in your area, so you might want to check some other sources to see what comparable tractors are bringing.
