Marlowe is correct. It is ground driven setting for the P.T.O. Excellant feature and I wish all tractors had it. It is especially nice when you are running something on the regular 540 p.t.o. that can plug up. When you plug up you can shift transmission to reverse and p.t.o. to ground driven setting and back the tractor up and p.t.o. will run backwards. I use it alot when sickle mowing and I plug up. Most of the time I can get unplugged and never leave the tractor seat. I have also jacked up one wheel and got the post hole digger out after it had quark screwed into the ground. I wished it was a manditory standard feature on all new tractors. I have become to hate sickle mowing and post hole digging without it. I always used the reverse part of it. Don't think I have ever used the foreward motion slow speed for anything.
