Couldnt resist jumping in with my 2cents worth. I remember the 70's gas crisis too, I recall Nixons price controls/freezes put in to control inflation caused the supply of gas to dry up due to the fact the price was regulated and held below the cost of producton/transportation for some supplies, therefore causing a shotage(Remember G Ford campaign in'76 slogan WIN= whip inflation now) I also remember the odd even deal with the plate #'s, and a 10 gal. limit but that was from the service stations themselves.Also recall hearing that ration coupons were printed up just in case. Glad Ive got the cellar woodpile half full yet, its been a long cold winter here and going back below 0 again next week.
