My brother and I have partnered up to run a cattle operation in East Texas. We have a '72 1466 in decent shape. No AC (doors off in summer!!), but plenty of power. All we will be doing is mowing pastures in summer with a 15 or 20' batwing, planting some cover crops in winter (light discing), and feeding hay in winter (will have hay custom baled or buy it). It hasn't had a loader on it up to now. We are considering trading or selling it for a newer tractor with a loader, but I don't think the dollars make sense. This is a pretty heavy tractor, and the weight sure does beat our roads out when it's wet. Questions- 1. What loaders will fit this tractor? Cost? 2. Sale value of this tractor? 3. Availability of a used loader? (Haven't looked yet, and can't stomach $5000 plus for the new ones.) 4. Reccomendations for a replacement tractor? Nothing around here but green or red or foreign (Kioti or Mahindra). Thanks for taking the time to reply, any info is appreciated. dcm

In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
