If at all possible have a "walk out basement". Even if you make a studed up panel to close off the door it is still there if you should decide you want it someday. Even if you only use a base walkout once in a while say to get a washer, freezer, lathe, or whatever in or out is way better than stairs. You can have the concrete poured for a garage door, stud it up and put a personal size door in the studed up panel too. Just so long as the concrete is ready for whatever you could possibly want in the future. But if possible have some sort of walk out access to any basement.
