At one time I thought that the diesel motor was just a "status symbol" too - so I bought my first Chevy 2500 HD with the gas motor. I haul a couple of heavy pieces of equipment, and within a year I had traded in on the same truck with the Duramax motor. I save enough in fuel economy to pay for the difference in the cost on the motor difference within two years! That, and the torque difference when combined with the Allison tranny makes all the difference in the world when you get right down to the heart of the matter - the ability to do the work you need to do! Just my opinion, of course, but you're welcome to test drive my diesel any time. Joey in Dallas.
