Sounds like it might be an undercharge situation. The modern automotive battery is not designed for anything but full charge - if you don't charge to full capacity that which is not charged will be lost quite quickly, especially with cheaper batteries. In other words, if you don't use the full storage capacity you lose it. This would be an unending spiral until all the capacity is lost ie all the cell area will become sulphated and will refuse charge. In the old days parking lights were left on overnight and it didn't affect the starting performance as batteries were designed differently and specs were for much higher amp-hour capacity. Nowadays if you want a deep discharge battery you have to specify it but these are no good for high-current starting applications. So much for progress. Sorry, not a lot of help but may explain why it happens. Regards, RAB
