Back in '58-'59, my Dad and I rebuilt an A-C WD that had been in a hay barn fire and then left outside for 3 or 4 years. None of the mechanicals within the engine were usable but the block and head were still OK except for some slight warping of the head. The heat was hot enuf to let one of the frame rails sag a couple of inches. The gas tank has a few permanent wrinkles but didn't "blow". The wheels and radiator were a total loss. For some reason there was little damage from the transmission rearward; the red primer was still inside the housings. So, everything in the engine is new; valves, crank, sleeves, rods, pistons, etc. After my dad died, I wound up with the WD and it still runs perfectly today. That's my only experience with a "burned" tractor but it turned out alright. I wonder if we couldn't have bought a running WD for what it cost to replace all the stuff we did.
