Other than swapping the two primary connections at the coil, you won't need to change anything else on your 3020 when change to 12 volt neg ground. You will of course have to get rid of the old generator and voltage regulator. If you are installing an externally regulated alternator you will need to wire up a new regulator to match the alternator. (Not required for an internally regulated alternator). You should be able to adapt the existing generator wiring harness to work with any new alternator. As Country suggests you can install a single wire alternator. However I'm not a big fan of them - they're more expensive than a standard alternator, and some have a tendency to slowly drain the battery when shut off. Not a problem if you run the tractor frequently. But if it's gonna sit idle for a few weeks or months, you need to pull the ground cable off the battery to keep it from going flat.

After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
