I have used a Ford 8N,aFord 861 and a Ford 3000 in my lifetime.Learned to drive on the 8N at age 6.Of the three, I would recommend the last one although I still have the 861 and won't sell it. The 3000 has better brakes than the 861 and also has live hydraulics. On 8Ns one must have the pto engaged to operate the hydraulis which is nothandy when transporting rotary cutters . The differance in pto is : standard / lever on/off with clutch engaged.when the clutch is depressed it stops the tractor and the pto live pto/ Engage lever with clutch down 1/2 clutch stops the tractor full down stops both. Have seller set rear wheel s at least 60" center to center. STAY AWAY from narrow front wheels "tricycle'. also recommend you fill front and rear tires with anti -freeze solution for traction and stability .If you do find a good 800 series, they are great tractors but you will want to upgrade to 12 volt and keep a check on the brakes' adjustment. Also 800s come in several series so make sure yours has live pto not just std
