EAR foam plugs on a hot day when out chainsawing. Wish I had started to use them sooner. You can probably hear the ringing in my ears from where you are because I did not always believe in them. I thought it would not hurt to just quickly make a couple of cuts with the chainsaw. I found out the hard way with safety glasses also. I was cleaning up the work area with a blow gun and a piece of steel bounced back and stuck in my eyeball. It proceeded to irritate, and get rusty so that when I did make it into the doctor he had to first pull out the metal and then use a blade to scrape my lens to get rid of the rust stain. This was done when fully conscious and while trying to hold my eye open as the doctor came at it with a scraping blade. Wear those glasses no matter how uncomfortable.
