IH 574 1971 : a very good one. IH 574 1975 : very bad one. Can't understand why these 2 tractors were so different. 1971 : easy winter starting (like IH 624), low engine noise, reliable, very fast moving(Y rear axle) with 16.9-30, a tractor like power steering, fun to drive. 1975 : difficult to start in winter(self-priming fuel pump, not the same used in 1971 which was not self-priming), very noisy engine, clutch slipping-many clutch rebuilding, row crop front end weakness(but used with a front loader), hard shifting, slow tractor even with 18.4-30, a funny Cadillac like power steering/15 turns stoper to stoper, absolutely no fun to drive. Ford 4400 gasoline and SOS : avoid. Many MF have not enough hydraulic flow capacity for rock picker(MF 1085, 275/285, 6170, 6180) FordNew Holland 5640 better than 6170/6180. RLACH

The main focus of this page is to show how I upgr
