Well, we could use more info I guess. Funny goof on your part tho, keep a sense of humor about it. :) Any big temp changes (cold weather = slow hyd fall)? How long have you had the tractor (if you owned it a week, then you just aren't familiar with it & there is no problem - if you owned it 5 years & first time it's done this, then you are right to wonder about it?)? Have you done any changes to the tractor? (new oil, split it, put a very heavy load on the 3-point, etc.) Most all 3-points drop with the engine off & a load on the arms. Most that are not wore out hold the 3-point arms up with no load on them. Could you explain better what you mean by it dropping with the motor off? What conditions are we talking about here? That part is really unclear, is your problem always with the engine off, or did you used to have a problem with the engine off, & now you have a problem with the engine running? I don't quite follow... And so on. Gravity-based hydraulic dropping is _very_ dependent upon oil temperature - when it is around zero my 960 Ford the empty 3-point will raise all the way up with the engine on due to cold oil, while in summer when I've been working it hard when I shut the engine off it will drop in an hour or less due to thin fluid & loose seals. So it kinda sounds like you have a new tractor & just are not familiar with it, but if I say that you might rip my head off here.... So, I'll just ask for more info on your problem? :) --->Paul

Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
