It's funny, I was having this same conversation at lunch today. The guy I'm working for (remodeling) is an attorney and grew up on an H. He mentioned someday retiring and wanting an old H again. I mentioned they were one of the cheapest tractors around. He asked why so I told him many of the same reasons that were mentioned here. No 3 point, a little too big for most hobby farm work, most were narrow front and a lot of folks (right or wrong) don't trust narrow fronts. I told him it was kind of sad to see a guy buy an H for a $1000 spend $2500 and countless hours restoring it and end up with a tractor worth maybe $2000. I don't know. It's kind of like toasters. They made a lot of toasters over the years and they all toasted your bread just fine. But then some guy came up with a toaster that pops up and shuts off when the toast is done. It set the industry standard. Kind of like those little Fords that people like to knock. That 3 pt. set a new standard and now fewer people will consider a tractor without one. The Farmall H is a great tractor though. But their cheap prices can't be because of high production numbers. Lord knows they made 800,000 of those little Ford Ns. H is just not as versatile as some others.

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
