Several years ago I went to my local JD dealer for parts for a manure spreader bottom chain for a 30 year old spreader- low and behold, the old parts guy's face lit up and said "we have a complete one upstairs- just saw it the other day". He went up and got it, and the price tag said about 84 bucks (should have been three times that). He started to ring it up, and one of the helpful sales staff told him "I think there's been a price change on that [duh]". Old guy smiled at him and said, "Well, we'll have to be sure and charge the new price for the next one we get in." The owner overheard the exchange, and went into his office laughing. Parts guy was a short-timer about to retire, had been with the company for 40 years, and had apparently earned the right to run the parts dept. the way he wanted. Don't think you'd see anything like that these days.
