Hi Jim, Don't know viscosity differences between synhetic you are using and mineral which you will change to, but my experience with synthetics is generally reduced oil consumption - although this may not be the case with your engine. Also there will be the choice of strongly detergent thru non-detergent and this may also affect the oil consumption. How much oil have you needed to top up with over this 25 hours? Is this 'normal' Oil could also be passing the inlet valve stems and maybe not via the rings. A compression test may give a clue that all is well and also check for crankcase pressure, indicating blow-by, although it doesn't sound as if this is too much your problem. The other point to make: - is it running hot enough? Light loads at moderate throttle may not even be getting the engine hot enough, as the radiator and fan are generously sized, and the thermostat may be tired and not closing completely. Well, plenty to think about, including other post! Regards, RAB
