There was a blizzard of postings over on the "Unofficial Allis Chalmers" board (site name is the obvious one). I came away more confused than confirmed, but apparently there are federal regs now that say anyone with a combined gross weight of over 10000 has to have a CDL and comply with all DOT regs for the big rigs. But others say that your home state regs apply, and if you would be legal at home, you're legal anywhere. Kind of like the fact that you don't have to get a new driver's license every time you cross a state line. I never did really figure it out. . .
