I researched digital cameras at cnet.com, and took their recommendation. We got the Canon PowerShot S30 (that's 3.0 megapixels, required if you want to print out photos that look like real photos). We love it, love it, love it. Only drawback is the battery doesn't seem to last very long. We ordered an extra battery (pricy, but it solved the problem) and got about 128MB of storage (that stores about 120 photos). That also cost a bit, but worth it. Finally, don't toss out your old analog camera. Most of these digital cameras - the Canon included - have a latency between the time you press the shutter button and when the actual photo is taken. That's a problem sometimes for action shots (sports, the kids) and takes some time getting used to. All in all, we really love the camera and think you will too.
