I'm using an Olympus Brio D-100 (2x digital zoom) that I've had for a couple of years now and have had no problems with it or the Olympus software. It's only a 1.7 megapixel but the D-380 that replaced it is 2.1. They use SmartMedia cards that go up to 128 mb. Mine came with an 8 meg card which gives 122 pics at Standard Quality (for e-mail), 36 for High Quality ( for general snapshots), and 18 Super High Quality (if you are going to enlarge detailed images). I also bought a 64 meg card ($28.00 at w-mart) which gives 331 SQ, 99 HQ and 35 SHQ. My D-100 came with a USB to USB cable and Camdedia softwear for the computer interface along with a camera to TV cable and a charger with 2 Ni-MH batteries. The LCD screen is sharp and clear whether in monitor or review mode. In macro it is easy to see what your close-ups will be like. A real plus is the fact that they use AA batteries so you can use nickel-metal hydride rechargeables and never be without power for all practical purposes. The Ni-MH batteries can be had for as little as $9.00 for 4 with a recharger. The image attached was taken at HQ setting with no zoom. MacAddict magazine reviewed the D-100 and, after listing its' pluses and minuses, declared that "if you just want to take good pictures go out and get one!" so I did and I'm very well pleased! By the way, the May '03 issue of Consumer Reports has a good review of digital cameras as well as scanners, printers, etc. :-)

Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
