Tom Mn is right DO NOT CLEAN dry type air cleaners There is no way to do it and to wash is the laaaaast thing you want to do. You can not get them dry then you such a hole in them. If you use a good filter brand them will protect the engine if you don't use a good brand the engine is hert any way. I have seen filters so dirty that when the cover was taken off that I could not see the filter and had hard time getting filter out of the can engine was short of power but still running. Sure don't recamend that wat either. The other thing every time you take it out you let some dirt in the engine. Be sure you but the filter in right and if no filter gauge run until you loss power and change.
