I've never pulled a tandem dual axle trailer axle trailer so I can't talk to that one but I have owned a 20 foot bumper hitch trailer for about 15 years. The frame of the trailer was not really heavy enough for what I was hauling so I added another 24' frame member under the existing frame and sloped the deck at the rear from the existing deck down to the new frame member to make a 4' beavertail (now have 24' deck). I added a third axle as well. The trailer pulled nice before this but that third axle just turned it into a dream to pull. Very, very smooth and very stable. It's actually easy to forget you have it behind you when empty.
