I work for the AF Reserves as a civilian. In the base motor pool, they use 15w40 motor oil in everything. They buy it in 55 gallon drums thru GSA. Sometimes it is Mobil, sometimes Shell, etc... I'm sure they do the same thing with hyd. fluids on equipment that needs that. I have only rarely seen engine failures in the vehicles (mostly diesels) and rarer still seen hyd. failures in all the equipment that uses hyd. fluid. What I'm saying is that as long as you use a major brand, and keep the equip. serviced, you should get good service.
