What Have I learned from this thread ? Well lets see..

1. I found out 1 more manufacturer of HY-TRAN, that puts the total at 4. Which indicates that they will not all have the same base, same additives maybe though.

2. If you mix and match tractors and attachments, you are mixing and matching hydraulic fluid. I had not thought of this one. This could not be good as some brands may not mix too well. This is a good argument for a universal fluid.

3. Not using HY-TRAN does not void your warranty if the fluid meets HY-TRAN B 6 specs. This is in My IH Operators manual.

4. Some people are die hard HY-TRAN fans. No offense intended.

In conclusion based on relatives long experience with HY-TRAN equivalents and the feedback from this thread, There is also the fact that at least 4 different firms manufacture OEM HY-TRAN. Also it is about a 2 hour drive to my IH dealer :( So I will continue to use quality HY-TRAN equivalent fluid.

I apologise if I have misunderstood or omitted anything from this summary.
