I am asking some questions here in Oregon. Apparently it costs the same to register a trailer for over 8000 gross as it does to register one for under 8000 gross. My question is "If I resister the trailer for over 8000 gross do I need a "T" plate on the towing ehicle". So far I have asked DOT, DMV, a State Trooper and a Sherriff's deputy. Surprise, I got 4 different answers. The deputy and the trooper both stated that unless things look way out of line, I wouldn't get stopped. Look at all of the car haulers going down the road that have to be over 8000 gross. I guess that I will be looking further. It seems that we hobbyists fall into a different class of citizen when it comes to vehicular laws and the laws are deliberately vague so they can make the rule fit the situation. Just my $0.02 worth.
