I'm not familiar with Allis, other than my Gleaners. However, what you are saying is an 'independent' pto, like my Oliver or IHC 300. Now here's the confusing part. 'Live pto' term can be used for either the 2-stage clutch system, or for the independent system. There is the standard non-live pto. (Like my IHC H tractor) Live pto, which is either 2-stage, or independent. (My Ford 960, 1720, 7700, TW-20, Oliver s77, & IHC 300) Independent. (Ford 7700, TW-20, Oliver s77, & IHC 300) And some like to sort out hydralic-independent, as opposed to the 'standard' independent which runs with a dry clutch you move with a lever. (Ford 7700 & TW-20) Really only important to know if it is live or not - independent is slightly nicer than the 2-stage, but in some cases (like spraying as I'm doing now, or for post hole digging, and other odds & ends) I actually prefer the 2-stage clutch system, where my foot can control the pto. I personally also dislike the hydraulic pto systems, as you just can't feather them properly. Either on or off, no in between. --->Paul
