My grandfather had one of these that he used for splitting wood. I never saw him use the PTO on it though. He had one of those cone style wood splitters that bolt up to the rear hub when you take the tire off. He had the back-end jacked up and it sat like that for years. I can remember helping split wood with that thing quite often, although I was too young to do it myself. We started her up, put it in gear and used a stick to keep the accelerator pedal down. I can remember one time we were splitting wood and the darndest thing happened. A log got stuck on the splitter and swung around such that it hit the ground and popped the jeep right of the jack stands. The jeep got about five feet with that wooden tire before we could hit the kill switch. My grandfather passed away two years ago and it was sold at the estate auction. After reading these posts I am really wishing I grabbed a hold of it. It ran great but the body was very poor. Sold for $650 I think.
