the actual amount of oil needed to operate a loader, espesially with two way cylinders,is very small (after the system is full) the main functions of the reservuir are keeping the oil relatively cool and making up for leaks in the system, coolingwise the bigger the reservuir-the cooler the system. in my opinion you can start with the amount used by the existing system, and go to the biggest reservuir you can comfortably install on the machine. it will be a good policy to mount a filter in the system (a filter on the return to the tank will do just fine)and a breather filter. secondly, pump pressure is set by a relief valve.make sure you have one in the system! set it(or replace it) to match the current system pressure (rpm changes do not change very much relief valve settings, especially not between 3600 and 4000). as for the displacement, here rpm's do matter! you shold have the data of both pumps (gpm@rpm, or cu.inch per revolution)to make the calculations. david
