We thought the lights were pretty dim on the 70D as well. Took the lenses off and replaced as they were aged and scratched/yellowed. The reflectors polished with scotch brite till they shone. In hind site we should have just bought the reflectors/lenses together. Replaced the lamps with the proper ones instead of what was stuck in there. Lights were better and then checked the voltage, found barely 5.0 volts. Ran a ground wire back to the battery instead of counting on the fender bolt path back to the battery and got up to 6.2V. Then set the voltage regulator up to 7.2v measured back at the battery without the lights on. Wouldn't know it was the same lighting system now. Look how bright some of these low voltage flashlights are at 3.0v.
