WHEELS for wheel weights?

I was just considering some thing the other day, I need a set of wheel weights. Was considering what I could make with materials at hand, and noted a couple of old tires mounted on wheels. Thought struck me to load them with water/antifreeze, and use them. Weight should be in the range of "all I want to pick up." A couple well placed holes drilled in the rim would allow for bolting to the wheels, and the center hub holes are larger than the axle - ought to work. Anyone else done this??????
