If you are stripping the parts to bare metal it is best to get a good etching primer and apply it immediately after stripping and removing the dust, etc. I have used a Dupont product (I am sorry I can't remember the name and I am not in the shop - email me if you can't track it down . . . ) which is a two part system using a green chromate and an etching acid mixed 50\50. A guy could even put it on with a brush and then follow up later with some primer surfacer/sealer/topcoat when all the parts are ready. The etching primer helps prevent further corrosion for many years to come and provides an excellent base for that perfect finish. Remember: the key to a great finish is preparation - lots and lots of preparation. It is hard work but well worth the extra effort. Good luck!
