Eric, Here are some suggestions for rebuilding this carburetor. The overhul kit will have some good instructions. Shake the float near your ear, if you hear fuel sloshing, replace it. Another check is to submerse it in a pan of hot water, air bubbles indicate a leaking float.I prefer a neoprene tip float needle, if you use a steel needle, use the ball side of a small ball peen hammer and tap the needle lightly into the installed needle seat. Clean all gasket materials from metal surfaces, do not leave any traces of the old gasket! I do not use gasket sealer on carburetors. Set the float level at 1 5/16". Be sure to line up the governor shaft tang with the correct slot in the throttle butterfly shaft drive, this is one of the most common errors with this carburetor. If the needles are distorted replace them, do not use a pair of pliers or large screw driver on these. Bottom them out very carefully, then as a preliminary adjustment back them out 1.5-2 turns. Use a tach to set the low idle at 425 RPM's, no load idle RPM's at 1595.
