I have a lead on what sounds like a pretty nice 580B deisel, with 22' extendahoe, 4 in 1 bucket, engine rebuilt recently, well maintained by owner who worked at equip dealer for years. He actually has 3 and is selling one. He says they are very tight and work great. The 4 in 1 bucket sounds especially appealing, given that I need to do a fair amount of grading and stump removal. apparenlty you can do a lot of what a dozer does with this kind of bucket. I may be able to get one for around 10k. The really nice part is that he can bring it to my place, as I have no way to haul such a beast myself. I've heard that the early case 580's were not very robust- like they were a regular farm tractor with bucket and hoe attached and the frame was not very strong. I don't hink this one falls into that category, but I don't know. One knowledgable guy I spoke with said that a good working backhoe that doesn't need any work is worth 10k any day. I'm at a point where I don't have time to do major repairs on a machine like this- at least right off the bat. Opinions?
