Aloha, how does the engine run with the carb leaking? Where is it leaking from? Some carbs have a drain hole for excess gas so if it is leaking from there on a level surface it may be:
If you are using the original float and it is brass, take it out and shake it to see if it has gas in it. If it is made out of that black plastic material it may be saturated with gas. If yes to any of the two, even though the float is adjusted correctly it will not completely close the needle valve. Check that the seat is ok, no nicks or foreign stuff on it and also check the needle valve. Hope this helps.
