Every state has different laws, but generally mounted between 2 & 6' high, visibale (doesn't mean it has to be on the very last part, but totally visable!) and use on. Always if you are going under 30 mph. It's actually illegal to use one if you are going faster... Nightime you also need proper lighting, which is usually 1 rear red light, front head lights. There are getting to be more laws about reflectors & such, on equipment built after such & such a year. Really best to check your local state laws for the real scoop. --->Paul
