i spent four years in a Marine Corps motor pool working on those new Hummvees. they have two 12 volt batteries hooked up the same way. i much as i ever knew, this setup of -+-+ always doubles the amperage and does nothing for voltage. when you need to jump start it, connect the cables to the battery closest to the starter motor. it will have the shortest cable. good luck
