Hello, this may not be pertinent to this particular discussion group but I have nevertheless a CAT 3208 installed on a cruiser, but not a sea one, a land one (A bus conversion motorhome). About two days ago while driving along with low fuel, the engine's rpm started dropping, then accelerating, then dropping again in 1.5-second intervals approximately. After about 2 minutes of this AND IN THE MIDDLE OF a 2WAY ROAD the motor simply died. I haven't been able to crank it up and I have now effectively managed to drain the batteries. I opened the little "T" valve and HANDPUMPED the fuel out util it came out rather clear (it looked like a light syrup-color). Then I crunk it again, and this time it seemed like it was going to//it felt like two pistons would crank up, then die, crank die, and so on for about one hour until the batteries died. I tried to dissassemble the fuel solenoid switch(a coke-sized and shaped switch that presses down on a lever inside what looks like a fuel distributor with 4 lines going out to each piston from each side) That worked fine after testing. I even tried starter fluid and it ran for about .5 seconds. I am really freaking out here because we are college students and I have no money for costly repairs. In this forsaken town I CANNOT find one single article or manual for this kind of engine. Can someone please help me? your help will be VERY appreciated. Sincerely, Tony and June
