If it was me, I would restore the ole truck, and put a 5.9 Cummins in it, would do you a good job, and economical at the same time. As far as compare to todays semi's, it won`t, but it will do what you want to do, and probably get around 12 to 15 miles to the gallon.

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned.
