I bought 76 GMC K25 (3/4 ton) 4 X 4 for $ 2,900.00 with 4 speed granny low manual transmission. Just ordered new 383 stroker for it. New engine cost $ 5,000.00. With AFR heads it will smoke.Rebuild transfer case and trans $ 600.00. Some additional costs and I will have $ 10,000.00 in truck with bullet proof gear drive transfer case and transmission. But powerwise, it will blow the doors off any new truck. Should dyno at well over 400 horsepower and be near 500 foot pounds. With low low granny first it will tow and then some. Yes you can "fix up" your diesel truck to reach these same power levels but it will cost big time. Run the numbers and any fuel savings will take years to pay back for the extra thousands of dollars you must spend for the diesel unless you drive a whole lot. I look forward to blowing the doors off the $ 40,000.00 diesel trucks. See ya!
