First off, what are you going to be doing with this tractor? How big do you need to go? That will narrow the search somewhat. The problem with your "wish" is that any tractor that has been around long enough to prove itself for 10000 hours is already worn out. What you need is a tractor in the early stages of its life. If you can find a model that is a proven "endurance champion" and doesn't have a ton of hours, you may be alright. I would stay with a brand that is still active. No orphan tractors. You MIGHT have to work on it some day. You'll need parts. There is no way to be sure that yours will go 10000 hours, just because someone else did it with theirs. There are a number of good tractors around, that were built in the last few years. If you plan on keeping it for life, start with something relatively new. That 40 year old Oliver will be ancient in another 25 years. If you are after a smaller tractor, (30-40 HP) chances are good that you'l find one that isn't too worn out, and a few years old. The bigger tractors, (100+ HP) were bought to work hard. You won't find many 4840 John Deere's around that were only used to cut grass. They have worked long and hard. Define your needs in a tractor, and we'll be glad to help you with BETTER advise. Hope this is of some help, Bill

While this may have been the bread and butter of the belt work in the past (since this is what made the money on many farms), the smaller tasks may have been and still can be its real claim to fame. The thresher would bring in the harvest (and income) once a y
