Time you figure equipment, maintenance, fuel,twine,fertilizer,your time etc.,your net will be less than what the CRP was paying.Look around in the Dakotas and Minnesota, there must be 5,000,000 round bales sitting around now.Unless you have cattle to run the hay through, it is cheaper to buy hay than try to make it yourself. This is assuming you are just going to bale range grass hay. Maybe if you set alfalfa, and bale small squares,and want to ship,you might build yourself a niche market,but otherwise I doubt if you will even cover expences.
