I am in agreement with you 100 percent. In Michigan they claim we lose 9 acres a minute, our county 11 acres a day. Up here the only way to fight it is through the county farm land preservation groups and effective zoning.It seems that every one wants to complain but no one knows where to look. I did not know about what was available until I accepted a seat on the township zoning board and started looking.There are several programs that offer some nice incentives if you take the time to look.
I own a small farm and have seen all the things you have mentioned and could fill several pages with stories and opinions but will stop now and let some one else have my soapbox...
